"3rd Valve Rock" brings the energy and excitement of rock 'n roll by artists such as Chicago, The Stones, Sheryl Crow, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Tina Turner, The Eagles, The Beatles, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, Springsteen... and more. This band will keep The Taste of Montclair rockin' from 7:00pm until the event ends at 9:00pm Friday September 23rd. Drums, congas, bass, organ, piano, lead & rhythm guitars, horns (trumpet, trombone, tenor & bari sax) harmonized vocals, and a dedicated female lead will keep your ears happy. With this depth they handle it all, from lush, soulful ballads & blues to jazz/fusion, and high energy rock & roll that raises the roof.
Grace Kelly Friday, 5:00pm-5:30pm
Born to such a revered name, Grace Kelly has big shoes to fill. And at 18, she has begun to make a name of her own. Many listeners have referred to her unique blend of soul, jazz, and pop as being “refreshing” and “original”.
Grace recently got back from recording some tracks in Nashville at an all-analog studio known as Welcome to 1979, that will later be part of her debut album. Fresh out of high school, Grace has managed to exceed not only academically, but also in her music endeavors. While many her age are just beginning their journey to discover what they’re passionate about, Grace has already begun her career.
Although she’s been singing her whole life, Grace began writing her own songs on guitar and piano at 14. Since then she has played numerous venues around Atlanta, Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles. Last fall, she also played the Next Big Nashville Music Conference. In the summer of 2010, she made it to the top 24 out of thousands nation wide in the running to be on a Bravo's hit show "Platinum Hit" on which singer-songwriters compete for a publishing deal. At the time she was actually under the age limit, but they pushed her through to the final round of auditions. From the summer of 2009 until fall of 2010, Grace also played bass and sang lead vocals in the Atlanta punk rock band Daymark. Her music has acquainted her with various successful artists and producers in the industry such as Jazze Pha, Gary Lux, J. Que Smith, and Weezer.
In December, Grace got accepted into the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. The distinct program only accepts 30 students across the world each year and has educated such acts as Lady Gaga. She's currently living in NYC cowriting, gigging, and writing new material.

Kincade Martial Arts Demonstration Saturday, 3:00pm-4:00pm
Grand Master Kinsler was born in Newark, New Jersey. The eldest son of James & Callie Kinsler. His Martial Arts training began at the Newark Boy's Club in 1961. It was there that he learned and developed his techniques.
He then joined the Ninja-Rye School of Martial Arts under the instruction of Grand Master Fred T. Godfrey. He learned various advanced fighting techniques and specialized in the Bed of Nails technique.
Master Kinsler trained with numerous scholars of Martial Arts including the famed Grand Master Bill Wilson. While training with Master Wilson, he developed the Total Man concept and was taught the need for Mental & Spiritual balance.
Even though by this time, he had given 16 years of teaching and learning, his journey was not complete. He met and was taught by Dr. Dan McEaddy who taught Fuquan the Poison Hand technique and stressed knowledge of human anatomy.
Along the way Master Kinsler brought along some of New Jersey's renowned Martial Artist which include: Sensei Rick "The Brick " Mayers", Ronny Burns, Rasheed Muhammad, Former Pro football star Andre Tippett of the New England Patriots and his oldest son Latish Kinsler former strong safety of the New York Jets.
Grand Master Kinsler is a member of the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the Winner of the 1998 New Jersey Man of the Year award. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his community involvement, especially turning troubled kids into productive citizens.
Grand Master Hinton Kinsler is the owner of Kincade School of Martial Arts and the founder what is well known in most of the Northeastern United States as the Kincade System, The style of "KINSHO" Master Kinsler's unique mixture of Shotokan united with Kincade toughness. Master Kinsler has dedicated his life unselfishly to the learning and teaching of Martial Arts in New Jersey. His method of instruction has motivated many of New Jersey's youth and adult's alike.

Miss Pop and The Bad Touch formed toward the end of 2010 . Collectively, the group has been playing the Northern NJ/ NY/PA circuit for the better part of a decade. They are group of talented, young musicans who bring a refreshing twist to the cover scene.
Inspired by all the different eras of music, Miss Pop and The Bad Touch are not to be missed.
The group is formed by vocalist Jane "Pop" Miranda, bassist; Mark Hartman, lead guitarist; Randy Harris,
keyboardist and pianist; Boris Ivanov, and drummer; Ernesto Gencarelli.

Montclair resident BOB CANNON has approached the music business from enough angles to fill a geometry quiz.
An editor and music journalist by day for publications like Entertainment Weekly and Performing Songwriter, he has also enjoyed a long career throughout the Northeast as a performer, songwriter, producer, and arranger.
His songs have earned awards from the American Song Festival and graced the country charts, but living the past eight years in New Jersey has long since erased his Southern accent.

Carrie Cantor & Malcolm Marsden
Carrie Cantor is a local mom and book editor/literary agent who has been performing in and around Montclair as a vocalist and guitarist for the last several years. She was part of the rock band El Kabong! and the duo Cantor & Cannon (with another PWR favorite, Bob Cannon) and now performs with Malcolm Marsden. She can sing a stirring, melodic ballad and then turn around and rock out on an energetic song with great soul. Malcolm Marsden is a local dad who has had a long career as a musician, starting in New Haven, where he played with former and future members of Rocket From The Tombs, Miracle Legion, and Dumptruck. He is a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, who sometimes performs solo, and was recently the front man for the band The Almost Canadians. Malcolm plays both widely known and rarely heard songs from a broad folk-rooted pop and rock repertoire, and mixes in his own distinctive compositions.
Both have been active in promoting the local music scene in recent years. Carrie co-hosted an informal jam at Church Street Kitchen for two years, while Malcolm hosted the open mic at Hat City Kitchen in Orange in 2010 and currently hosts one at Highland Place in Maplewood. The result of the combined talents of this dynamic duo is soaring vocal harmonies and a sweet, sassy combination of acoustic and electric guitar that will make you smile and make you dance. Carrie and Malcolm perform regularly at Tapastry in Montclair, Highland Place Steakhouse in Maplewood, Stony’s in South Orange, and The Fine Grind in Little Falls, as well as other venues.

With a dose of attitude mixed with mojo, Client No. 9, an alt/power-pop/rock band based in Montclair, delivers upbeat original tunes about sex and relationships, suburban-style. Their driving, soulful, funky sound has been compared to Liz Phair, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pat Benatar.
Client No. 9 features Aviva Patz (vocals), David Janowski (guitar), Greg Carson (bass) and Rick Osterberg (drums). They can be seen performing at Parents Who Rock shows and at clubs in New York and New Jersey. Their song, �Love As Far As I Know It� appears on the latest Parents Who Rock compilation CD, �Let 'Em Play.� Check out the band's myspace page.
Parents Who Rock - Ellen Paretti Saturday, 1:45pm
Late bloomers, Ellen and Tim got back into music a few years ago. At the rate they are going, it is expected they will peak (from a performance perspective) when they hit their 60's. They enjoy long walks on the beach, just not with each other.
Bloomfield mom-of-two, singer/guitarist Ellen Paretti is proud to be a PWR regular appearing on both the "Go Play Outside" and �Let Em Play� cds.
She often performs with �band husband,� PWR regular, Tim O'Connor, and with her acoustic group, Lemoncello,
which includes O'Connor on guitar, Michael Blue on jumba, and Sheryl Reed-Herrera on cello. Even folk singers need to get their rock on, so this folk singer performs regularly with local Glen Ridge band Chronic Pain, which includes O'Connor, Blue, PWR bass player-for-hire, Steve Ward, Robb Allen and Kevin Johns. Ellen is also a board member of Goals for Life, a non-profit organization which raises money for breast cancer by holding a women's-only soccer tournament.
Parents Who Rock - Eugene Chrysler Band Saturday, 1:00pm
Eugene Chrysler aka Dan Karlok is a long time resident of Montclair. He and two other dads here in Montclair (Jeff Somerstein on drums and Mike Potenza on guitar) decided to put together a band for Parents Who Rock. Their music takes its influence from blues, country, western swing, boogie, and rockabilly.
Eugene has been playing in bands for the last 25 years and has had the honor to play with and open for Billy Lee Riley, Wanda Jackson, and Robert Gordon. The band's second CD Hillbilly Shakespeare was recorded in Austin, Texas, and features members from the group Asleep At The Wheel. Some of these songs have also been featured on the tv show "Law and Order."

It is not the flag that moves. It is not the wind that moves. It is your mind that moves. Hui-neng MyMyndMocean is: CLIVE SMITH, the band's guitarist, is also skilled on the bass, keyboards, and electronic trumpet. Clive has had the honor of working with some of the biggest names in the music business (ask him about being on Sesame Street with Herbie Hancock), garnering a platinum record or two in the process. When he's not playing with MMM, he composes soundtrack music for TV and film, which can be heard in over 30 countries worldwide. BRIAN KOLINS has been drumming ever since he was age 3. He's studied the rhythms of the world with some of the world's finest drummers, and is accomplished on a wide variety of exotic percussion. His main instrument is the traditional drum kit, which he likes to enhance with an arsenal of electronic pads and samplers. ADAM LABOZ is the man on the sitar. His fascination with the instrument began after hearing George Harrison play on The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's album at age 5. He picked up the guitar at age 9, and would try to imitate the sitar's sound. It wasn't until many years later that he purchased his first sitar on eBay. Since that time he has performed at numerous venues; from playing Indian classical music at an intimate yoga gathering to rocking out with the band Weezer on the "World's Greatest Stage" at Madison Square Garden.

School of Rock Montclair presents the School of Rock House Band, a blazing team of chops-heavy, righteously-rocking all-stars comprised of 15 of our top young musicians, ages 7 to 18. The School of Rock House Band will get heads nodding, feet tapping, and fists pumping with a sizzling set of awesome modern rock anthems, including hits by The Deftones, No Doubt, Helmet, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, and more.
Trumpets Jazz Club Saturday, 5:15pm-6:15pm
Trumpets first opened in 1985 and soon became the best jazz club in NJ. All of the best musicians in the world have played the Trumpets stage. In 1999 Trumpets was purchased by Enrico Grafanei and Christine Massari. A musician himself Enrico used to perform at Trumpets years ago. The Italian harmonica player, guitarist and composer is determined to maintain the tradition of this legendary jazz club.

Tumblebuzz, featuring Michael Baker, Michael Stein and Larry Pendergast, marinates a stew of "indie-alter-classic" rock. The unique style presents a familiar sounding flavor of original music.
